The only .22 I would buy is the 10/22. I have an old Marlin 60 would like to get rid of it. But not to anyone I know.

The Marlin Model 39 is excellent. I also like the Win 9422.....
The Moosbergs I've shot were very accurate, but not esthetically pleasing...

Everyone should own at least one 10/22.

model 60 - over 11 million of them sold and theres a reason why - that micro rifling or what ever they call it makes them accurate little suckers. People can blow money on 10/22 accessories and make them look tactical or what ever but at the end of the day, its a .22, shoots like a .22, end of story. Its a plinking machine and nothing plinks more accurate for the money than a model 60.

I like my Marlin bolt action and also have a couple Ruger 10/22's. It is hard to go wrong with any .22. The next one I buy will be a Marlin 39 though everytime I try to buy one they are sold out.

I have a 10/22 and really like it. I also recommended one to a buddy and he bought one when looking for a new .22 and really likes it. Mine is stock except for a Simmons scope and can shoot accurately enough for me. More accurate than I can usually shoot it. I can load up a high capacity magazine and I usually shoot at 35-50 yards and can get about a 1 1/2 group. However, the group is just a single hole that big. To me that's pretty decent especially being me shooting it.

You can customize them just about anyway you want and make them very very accurate. I bought plans with the intent to change the barrel at least and maybe a few other things however, it's impressed me and is as accurate as I want it to be so I never changed anything on it.

I will say mine stovepipes a lot with Federal bulk pack ammo. I've read some others do and some don't. It does pretty well with Winchester bulk pack ammo but still stove pipes some. Compared to a few other guns I've used that have never jammed on me it jams a lot however, for plinking it's no big deal to me. Just stove pipes some. With the Federals ever few shots. With Winchesters maybe a time or two in 50 rounds or so. Sometimes might not do that. I'm not that some of it isn't the aftermarket magazines. However, the Federals jam in the 10 round one too. I really like this gun though and like I said wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I have or have had a few 10/22s and they are alot of fun to tinker with and for the most part quite accurate with a little work. Just finished building one for my grandson when he is old enough to use it. With that I also have a Marlin Model 70 which is identical to a 60 but clip fed and not tube fed...new gun gifted to me by a friend who owed me. In their original form, hands down the Marlin was more accurate and less trouble than the Ruger, costs less and every bit as fun to shoot.

I like the 10/22 for all the aftermarket fun you can get.
