You forgot the "neither one" option, so i can't vote... You just don't need that much power for hunting...

1. What are you shooting?
2. What are you shooting at?
3. How far are you shooting?

I'd take the Zeiss over the VXIII... (perhaps the new VX3 would be a better Leupy choice). The Zeiss has better glass, an etched reticle and constant eye relief.

Both are excellent glass. I have to factor in my recent experiences with customer service at Leupold. The VX III would be my choice.....those people are the best. I sent in two different scopes to Leupold, both of which had problems that were not problems of Leupolds, they were problems others created. In both cases Leupold went out of the way to make sure I was happy with their solution.

I would chose the Zeiss just because I didn't like my Leupold VX-I. I know that scope is a ton better but if the offer the kind of quality of scope I got for $200 I just don't have faith in their higher end products being but soo good either. Although they do have a great warranty and great customer service.

I would buy the Conquest. That one has an adjustable parallax as well.

I have 4 Conquest 4.5-14's, and highly recommend them. I love them for hunting scopes.

Here is one of my Conquest 4.5-14's on my Ultimate Firearms BP Xpress muzzleloader.

If I was going to spend that much on a scope I would look into the "best of the west" site and check out their scopes. I was talking to them down at the Eastern Sports Show las month and for $1600 you send them your rifle and ammo and they will set up a their quality scope with a ballistically matched turret so you can shoot out to 1000 yds holding dead on.

Yeaaaa, that's just what we need! More folks "shooting" at (notice i didn't say "shooting") game animals at 500, 700 or 1,000 yards away!!
