Remington Model 66 Nylon

I am an avid hunter, but don't really "collect" guns per say. I only buy guns that I will use for hunting.

That being said, a guy who obviously knows NOTHING about guns traded me a almost mint Rem. Nylon 66 for a $25.00 radio. It was shot 10-20 times and was in the top of his closet for almost 20 years. The screws for the reciever have no scratches at all so I don't even thing it was ever taken apart and cleaned.

It is the Mohawk brown with the white diamond and blue receiver. I am thinking about selling or trading the gun, but was hoping to get some input on it first. I know they produced well over a million of these things, but somehow they have become somewhat valuable it seems. Aren't there thousands of these things still in circulation??

Anyway, any input or opinions on the possible collectibility (is that a word) and value of these guns in the future would be appreciated.

I dont know about collectability,(yes its a word) but i do know that i have the same gun, and its a fantastic hunting rifle. I have a BSA 4x .22 rimfire scope on it. It shoots 1 holers out to 40yds.

Almost any gun will go up in value over a period of time. The key is knowing when to buy and what. Your Nylon 66 was made for just about 30 yrs., starting in 1959. 1,050,336 were manufacured. My modern Gun Values book, 14th edition, lists it at $275 in excellent condition. I feel sure that is much more than was paid for the gun when bought new. Kept in the condition you described it to be, it should do nothing but increase. There are probably some serious 66 collectors out there that would love to have it. Does that help?

I wish more pople went by that book I checked gun broker and there is one starting our at $575 in ok condition.

The nylon 66 is only going up in value.Check out gunsamerica.com and gunbroker.com look at the prices those things are bringing.I have one that is showing its use and abuse and it still shoots like a champ.
