What is the differance between the .22 LR, the 22 horntet and the 22-250, are they all somewhat the same and can you shoot any of them out of a regular .22 LR?

the answer to your question is NO, NO and NO. 22LR are rimfire rounds, if you check your barrel it is stamped with info on what types of ammo can pass through it. the 22 Hornet and 22-250 are centerfire rounds and CAN NOT be fired in a 22LR barrel. hope this helps.

Just like you can' t shoot a 30 carbine, 308, 30-06, 300 Win mag, 300 dakota mag, 300 Wea. mag out of the same barrel. While all of these rounds use the same bullet, the cases are different and will not fit into the others barrel.

If I' m not mistaken the center fire 22' s use a slightly larger (.224" ) diameter bullet than the 22 long rifle.

The best way to see for yourself is go to a sporting goods store and look at the different cartriges yourself and you will be able to see the differences.

Its always best to just assume that the only ammo a gun can shoot is what' s stamped on the barrel. If you don' t follow this rule, really bad things can happen.

You could shoot them all from a .22 LR if you had a hammer big enough to get them into the chamber. No, wait!! You' d also need a center fire firing pin for the Hornet and .22/250.....
