Default Ruger police service six

I picked up a Ruger Police Service Six in .38 special a few days back. This gun is almost perfect!only a few wear marking on the cylinder and a small scratch on the trigger guard. i check the serial number and the Ruger website says it was made in 1975. How much is a pistol like this worth? Can anyone give me a history on it? I assume they were used as service revolvers, although i doubt this one was due to its perfect condition. I payed the previous owner $100 for it, their grandpa had died and they "just wanted rid of it" I got a steal as far as I am concerned, but does anyone know an actual value?
Thanks,
-Jake

I would have to guess somewhere between $400-$500 maybe even more. You got a hell of a deal.

Those Ruger revolvers were some very well built revolvers. Heavy duty and very relaibe. Not necessarily known for their accuracy, but still adequate accuracy for personal protection. They make a fantastic truck gun. They will take a licking and keep on shooting.

I really do not know the current value. I do not think they have any collector value. However if you wanted to sell it I am pretty sure you could fetch at least $250 to $300. Maybe more. But I doubt it. Tom.

Alright, well sounds like i got a great deal than. I knew that for $100 I couldn't pass it up, and yes it feels like a great and well built revolver! Thanks
