Default Why I Carry A Gun

I stole this from someone else! I wish I had wrote it. Enjoy!

Why I Carry a Gun

My old grandpa once said to me, "Son, there comes a time in every man's
life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually
it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin'.

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being
killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this
world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are
real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived
long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because
I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have
to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun
because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk
somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I
die and go to Heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men
know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because,
unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life
and the people who make it meaningful to me.

"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect
themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just
investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean
up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to
take an ass whoopin'."

..author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

While I agree with that above about the ass whoopin, an ass whoopin isn't enough to justify a gun discharge.

It will take multiple attackers to get you out of the tight grip of the law.

Sucks but it's pretty much true.

Statjunk... I beg to differ...

Some of us OLD FARTS are on medication, such as blood thinners..

A solid punch to the head may well be as lethal to me as a bullet or knife wound...

I suspect that a good lawyer could mount a good case of self defense for me if I should have to defend myself against an assailant using ANY method, including his fists...

In any case, I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6...

haha I like that considering the 357 is my favorite gun to shoot. I did a school science project on "bullet proof glass" at point blank range and the 357 was the most efficient out of the guns tested. [8D]

ya dont forget ass whoopins are illegal....

around here you throw the first punch or even self defense you're probably spending a night in jail.

Yes in such a situation I would agree that you'd have decent footing but you're still going to spend $10k to get out of that mess. Yes, I would rather spend $10k than be dead.

Me on the other hand, I'm a 33 in decent shape and used to fight in tournaments. There isn't any way I'm getting away with firing a weapon unless either I'm highly out numbered or there is a weapon threat.

Which sucks because I'd rather not ever again have to defend myself in a physical confrontation. All it takes is one punch in the right spot to end up a vegetable.

Sucks that the laws make is such that even when you're right you're wrong.

If I'm by myself, I'll fight but I'll cheat. IfI fear there is a chance of me being hurt bad and the bad guy has the upper hand, I'll just shoot. Biggest thing is, I'll stay away from wherethere is trouble. You won't catch me in downtown Denver at a nightclub with a bunch of punks.

If I have my family with me, I'll shoot wisely and reload quickly.

Very good, I wish I could have wrote it too! I take care to avoid places and situations that are likely trouble spots, BUT, there is no such thing as a "fair fight!" Whatever it takes to keep my family and/or myself safe rules!
