My gun collection is growing and my wife is under the assumption that u can only shoot one gun at a time so why own more then one gun. Well, all of us adverse hunters know that its nice too have a gun for every occasion. One for deer hunting, actually two in my case. One for the brush and one for distance, but whatever. Its nice too have a shotgun for bird hunting and we know there are several diffrent types of bird hunting which warrant diffrent guns and calibers. Muzzleloading which reguires a muzzleloader and so forth. A target rifle for shooting. A 22 for plunking and I like too varmit hunt which I use a .17. I guess u got my point. Do u fellows agree, should I set my wife straight? LOL! I believe my collection is in the twenties somewhere. I dont have a direct count, but off hand thats about as many as I can come up with. I also forgot too mention that I have three sons and when they get older, I am sure they will be advert hunters so these guns will not lay idol.
RE: Is there such a thing as owning too many guns?
I don' t think that a person can ever own to many guns.First of all what would be considered to many?Is 5 to many,10, 25, 100?Only you can be the judge that says enough is enough. My EX thought on the same lines as your wife does. Can only shoot one at a time. I guess that' s a woman thing. The more guns the better.Guns are good investment and like money in the bank.Try explaining that to the wife LOL.

RE: Is there such a thing as owning too many guns?
My wife tried that " you can only shoot one gun at a time" line on me so I replied " you can only wear one pair of shoes at a time, you can only carry one handbag at a time, you can only wear one dress at a time..." . She seemed to take the hint. Another thing that helped is I bought and modified a rifle so it fits her perfectly, which means I can' t shoot it at all. Now she is more comfortable shooting and doesn' t worry so much about my collection.
RE: Is there such a thing as owning too many guns?
It does creep up there. I have 11 guns now. I remember when I thought I only needed 2-3... then I picked up an extra rifle and then another rifle and then another handgun. Seems like 20 is about average
RE: Is there such a thing as owning too many guns?
people are collectors...cars, coins, stamps, etc...Guns are no different. Sure you can only shoot one at a time, but you can bring a bunch to the range and shoot all of them at different times. We like a variety...it spice' s up our lives, so the proverb says. Tell her to be glad you collect guns and not wives[]That should keep her quiet (for a while anyhow) JDinAB

Well I' m sitting at 12 right now with an inline on the way probably in the summer to get ready for the early doe season. The only reason that I have stopped there is because living in the PRNJ where the ruling party considers a class 3 FFL the same as a class 1. I can' t see going through the hassle just because the democrats that have had a strangle hold on the state are pushing the anti gun agenda. That is why I will be moving to Central PA in the spring of 04. Like Ruger said it is an investement, and they sure do seem to stay around much, much longer than shoes or purses, etc.

it may be practical to only shoot one long gun at a time but you can shoot more than one handgun at once.
