Can I shoot Hevi-shot?

I just bought a Mossberg 535 turkey tactical. It shoot 3 1/2 's but my buddy said I can't shoot Hevi-shot out of it. Anybody know about this?

You won't have any problem shooting hevi-shot out of your Mossberg. You may, however need a different choke tube to do so. Most extremely tight chokes for lead or plated lead shot, are not designed for hevi-shot. Being harder, it usually requires a more open choke. They are readily available.

I don't see a problem either. But if you are concerned, check you manual or contact Mossberg.

The X Factor ported turkey choke that comes with the 535 is ratedfor lead only. If you want to shoot heavier than lead loads you will need to get a choke tube ratedfor it. I have achieved excellent results withanIndian Creek in .660, and Hevi-13 3" 2oz #6's.
