Bought a 270 win a couple of months ago for $290 out the door, great little beater gun. Waiting on the short action models to come out later this year, a 7mm-08 would be nice.

I've heard good things about that Marlin, what kind of groups are you gettting out of them? Thats one of the guns on my short list for a future purchase.

The XL7 in .270 I got to give a buddy for a present is consistantly grouping about 1 1/2" for 5 shots at 100 yards with cheap factory ammo 130 gr. I bent the little tab all the way back and to 1 side for him, thereby eliminating the goofy trigger similiar to accu-trigger. It has an great conventional trigger now and is still 100% safe/reliable. I even bought another to use as beater/loaner rifle and it's just as good. They are the best rifle I've seen in that price range-bettering Stevens 200 and the Mossberg from what I've seen.
