Default Hrnady Light Magnum165 gr .308

Can these be used in a BLR safely? Is the interlock bullet suitable for moose?

Thanx

I am a fan of the Light Mags and they are not recommended for autoloaders but will be fine in a BLR.The link belowmay be a better load for moose. It is a 200 grain accubond with some impressive KE downrange. It is available from Midway I believe.

Point blank range with this load is still 250 yards.

Yes, you can use them in a BLR. I have tested them and they are junk IMO. Very small gain over the hornady custom ammo. Don't waste your money.

I would not use a interlock, but would pick a 180gr bullet.

Thanx for the info.

Kind of hard for me to get those bullets in Canada.

What exactly didn't you like about "which" them? The Hornady Light Mags or those 200 grthatScott Gagsmentioned?

Well, I tested two boxes with a friend. He was sure he could get 2900fps with 165gr out of a 308win. We got a whopping 2750fps out of his gun and two of mine. One with a 26" barrel. I can get 2800fps with my reloadswith varget or IMR4064. Accuracy out of all three guns was horrible. Even out of a FN SPR A1 tactical rifle that could shoot submoa with rocks.

Needless to say, I loaded his ammo to go elk hunting.
