Default My 870 has got a problem

I just bought my wife an 870 Express synthetic and it has a problem. When you rack the slide back the forarm rubs on the left side of the receiver leaving a mark. When the forearm is forward there is only about a 16th of an inch on the left side while the right side has a space much wider. Has anyone ever seen this before. Should I send it back to Remington? I really don't want my gun to have a permanent mark on the receiver. Thanks all!

hahah well if its was my 870, Id take a file and take care of it. But i use and abuse my 870 alll the time. It looks pretty rough as is, but it sure does the job on small game. But being a newer gun that you probably want to keep nice, yes I'd contact remington, it shouldnt be doing that!

Probably just a molding process problem. If it were me I'd take the forearm off (after determing) how much material is needed to be removed and file it off. The forearm is the same color all the way through so it won't show where you filed. If the gun functions fine otherwise I wouldn't bother with trying to return it. Yeah you could, orcall them but whats to say you won't get another with the same problem? I'd just take care of it myself but thats me.

before you get out the file, take a look and see if the area between the barrel and forearm are equal on both sides. If not the action bar probably has a twist in it. Remove the barrel grab the forearm and twist it in the direction that you need the space opened. It will not take much to get it to go so do not twist it like the hulk. Good luck
