Recoil is closer to that of a 300winmag than a 30-06.And don't expect to find factory loads or brass available for long,as this cartridge is dying off rapidly.

I'd strongly suggest a .300 WSM over the .300 SAUM.

The WSM has won this contest...much more popular.

Right now,it would be hard for someone to give me an .300 saum EXCEPT for stripping the action to use as base for building custom rifle.

The round is a good one. The recoil will be close to the 300 Win. Mag. However, due to low popularity ammo is not plentiful and as time goes on availability will be more limited. I'm sure it will end up like the .284 Winchester & .264 Win. Mag. Having maybe one factory load available and to get it you will have to look to online ammo sources. I think I would look towards the 300 WSM or 300 Win Mag as ammo if plentiful in most areas. If you are interested in handloading the 300 SAUM is a good choice.

I also recommend the .300 WSM. It has the ballistics of a .300 win mag with slightly less recoil.
