Default Charles Daly and Stoeger semiautos

I've been looking at shotguns lately for one of my sons. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with either of these or the mossberg 935 ?

I wouldn't get a Charles Daily. One of my friends has one and it has been nothing but problems for him. And I've heard CD's have a bad rep for being cheap. I'd spend a little more and look into either Benelli, Remington, or Beretta. They have some very nice, reliable shotguns.

I had a CD auto 12ga used it rabbit and duck hunting and never had any trouble out of it. It took a beating and never jammed or anything. If your wanting a cheaper shotgun for your son to use in the woods the CD should do fine.

The Stoeger 2000 is an excellent semi-auto shotgun, and it's inexpensive compared to the Benelli's that it's based on. Exact same inertia action for 1/3 the price of a Benelli. I have one and I love it. It's been perfectly reliable, it's clean shooting and easy to clean (unlike most gas-operated semi-autos), and it's lightweight and shoulders and swings far better than any $400 shotgun should.

If you get one for your son, he won't be disappointed.

While I can't comment on the charles dalys,I CAN attest to the stoeger 2000 12 gauge shotguns. Just picked 1 up the other day just to see how it would do,and now I'm thinking about using it instead of the benelli legacy in places/times where it could get scratched. That should say something. The mossberg 935 3 1/2" is very spotty cyling with 2 3/4 light target/field loads. The stoeger 2000 I've got is 3" max-same as my benelli legacy, and both function flawlessly with ANY 2 3/4" or 3" load.

Thanks for the replies, I've got a Stoeger Condoor and I'm very pleased with that. My son has hinted to me that he's ready for something besides his single shot. He likes my 1100 even though its a little too big for him. I would buy him one if I could find an older one in nice condition for a descent price, but after my last 2 new Remingtons I"ll never buy anything made from them after the 80's again.

I love my Stoeger 2000. It's the best shotgun I've ever owned. Has never had a cycling problem of any kind not even with the light loads. I beat on it pretty good and really don't have one negative thing to say about it.

I have a Charles Daly semi-auto that I use for skeet shooting and I love it. I put a fiberoptic bead on it. I let a buddy borrow it for quail hunting and he thought it shot great too. I'm not a shotgun expert but it easily exceeds my abilities. I don't miss and blame it on the gun. I haven't had a problem with mis-feeds but I only use quality ammo.

I'm not a gun expert either nor do I claim to be one, but I own a CD semi-auto in Realtree Camo as my turkey gun. I picked it up new for $362.00 and I love it. Was told by the local gun shop that it is made from the same line as 1100's. I'm sure I will be told on here whether that is true or not. But thank the Lord I haven't had any trouble and like posted before it is a better gun than I am shooter.
