Threading a cylinder bore shotgun for choke tubes?

I have a mossberg 500 with an 18.5" barrel and its a cylinder bore however this is my favorite shotgun in the world and its the perfect size, its short lite weight manuverable but I just wish it had choke tubes. Do you think it would be possible to have it bored and threaded for chokes and if so would it really even do much? Id like to use it for hunting on the river with buckshot and shots are generally well under 50yds but id still like to reach out there and touch one with a decent pattern at 50yds. Think its a sane idea?

Yeah, it can certainly be done but it would be a lot cheaper to just buy a new20" vent rib barrrel that is already threaded.

I agree. Also, if the threading isn't perfectly executed, the choke tube may be misaligned with the bore and change your POI.
