For me it depends on the stock. Black stock, black scope. Laminate or wood stock, silver scope.
I think any combo looks better. If you struggling you could always have the barrel coated black.

Personally ,I dont see the need for a silver scope unless you want "pimp" your rifle. The scope is made of aluminum and it isnt going to rust, so why the stainless look?. Most silver scopes are way too bright looking for my taste and besides , what if you want to sell the rifle but keep the scope, you'd HAVE to get another S/S gun , where as a matte scope will look good on any gun.

Matte Black Leupold VX-III on my Reminton SPS Stainless in 270...i like the look of it.
Ruger you could hang that beauty around your neck and just look good that is anice lookingrifle.

Stainless barrel, matte black mounts and scope. The silver mounts and scope usually dont match the barrel in color anyway. I have found that if your looking for a used scope that the silver ones bring less money.
