Default Browning 7mmWSM Recoil

I recently purchased a Browning Stalker chambered in 7mm WSM and the recoil is something less than desirable. I am considering having the barrel ported to reduce some of the recoil. Any suggestions?

Recoil from a wondermag? How could that be possble? Didn' t you read all the claims and ads about reduced recoil from the WSMs? Gee, guess you can' t believe everything you read huh? I would recommend a good recoil pad instead of the porting. Cheaper and easier on the ears.

A good muzzle brake will do wonders for the recoil. They are well worht it. If you are looking downrange and thinking about the recoil instead of your target your groups open up. The noise isn' t bad, you should be wearing earplugs when shooting at the range and when you shoot while you are hunting you won' t even notice the blast. You won' t shoot enough while hunting to have any impact onyour ears. Trust me when I say that a good recoil pad will not help nearly as much as a good muzzle brake. When I say muzzle brake we are not talking about a magna-port, that will have little effect plus they have to cut into the rifling.

Don' t forget, however, that some ranges are asking people with muzzle breaks on their rifles to put them away when someone else complains about the noise.

Any loud noise like that will hurt your ears. Once, twice, any will do harm to your ears!

My solution would be consider the muzzle break and consider the recoil pad then go to the gun shop and trade it for a 260.

Muzzle Brake will tame the rifle for you. Use ear protection like you are suppose to. In the field use a Walkers Game Ear for ear protection it also enhances hearing ability. Good luck.
