RE: .308vs5.56 in a ar15.
An AR10 would be the .308 version of the your 5.56 AR15, better for longer range hits. Remington is chambering their new AR version (R25) in .308, .243, and 7mm/08. You can also get open market AR'schambered in 6.8 SPC and the6.5 Grendel, both of which are being studied by the Military for it's next new chambering. Last but not least, you can get uppers inother calibers, just switch it out with your existing lower for a whole new gun at a quite a bit less money.Ammo cost will likely be higher for the bigger calibers, simple physics of more lead/copper/powder/brass being used.
