I was at the range last season and someone next to me was shooting a handi rifle in 270.Â* The person shooting was a woman.Â* She was there for the first time and she was shooting clover leafs.Â* Must have had the perfect touch.Â* Made me consider trying one at some point in time.

It's been my experience that women are much easier to train to be good marksman, and the skill comes easier to them. I think it's about patience, concentration and a lack of a strong ego, something I believe women are better at than men. When I taught my wife how to shoot, she was willing to listen to instruction and coaching, willing to admit and address her problems, and would always take the time to make sure everything was right before she squeezed the trigger. She, like many women, also had the advantage of going into it without established bad habits. This something many guys who started shooting at a young age, but never really learned good marksmanship skills, often have in spades.
I've never owned a NEF or H&R rifle, but I've had their shotguns and they are great little guns for the price. They have a good reputation for accuracy, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I wanted a single shot rifle. Especially one that I wouldn't feel bad about putting a few dings and scratches on. They'd make a great "truck gun".
