I just bought a Rem. 700 30-06 springfield for 150.00
great shape, included 4x32 deerfield scope. Guy at my work was hard up for cash and doesn' t hunt anymore.
I mostly bow hunt for big game and if a rifle' s needed I use my winchester 7 mm. so I was just wondering if I got a good deal. I' m giving it to my father to replace one that was stolen. That' s the only gun he' ll use and I' m hoping to get him out in the field with me this season.
If it' s in good shape you did well. Hard to tell more without more info... ADL? BDL, blue, syn? But 30-06 is a great round, it should work great for him...
I' d say good ...not great ... but good. Up here the 700 ADL books/sells used for $ 200.00 +/- So I' d say you saved about $ 50.00 plus tax. you didn' t get hurt by any means.

Like clearanceman wrote, it all depends upon what model of 700. An even bigger factor would be the condition of the rifle; like new, 80%, 50%, rusted, pitted, etc.?
thanks for the replies! The gun is in near new condition so I felt like I did ok, the main thing is my father likes it. He' s already planning a trip with my brother and I this fall. He hasn' t showed this much interest in years so I fell like it was money well spent.
Jees, I don' t know where you fellas are buying guns but around here a mint 700 ADL wood stocked rifle is pushing $325 or more and the 700 BDL' s are running over $400.
Even the cheap 700 ADL synthetics are running $275 to $300 used.
I would say that a Remington 700 in good shape for $150 is an EXCELLENT buy. What model of 700 is it?
In the condition you said I would say you did well.New ADL' s around here are close to 400.00. Then you got a scope even though it' s not a top of the line one.If your father is happy, then that was money well spend. I hope he enjoys it.
