My savage .22 says on recommendations to use 40 grain federal. My ammo is 36 grain hollow. Can I still use it?

Default RE: .22 can I use 36 grain hollow point?

you should be able too as long as it matches the markings in regard to short or long or long rifle , it would just give the best performance with the 40 grain bullet loading .
