Kids some time lose interest in hunting from time to time. Well I thought we could do some thing together, he's showed interest in a tactical type gun but there way to expensive and he doesnt need an semi auto gun at his age. well I had an idea. took an old H&R topper 20 guage that was laying around and turned it into a slug gun. We did it together and it hs sparked interest in hunting once again. It didnt cost much at all and all I need it to do is group at 50 yds. Still need a tactical flashlight
and a laser and also to be tested.
very interesting.. Nice looking gun. Does she shoot straight?

just got back, she shoots better han I hoped, after gettting it dialed in, it was hitting everytime in a 3" circle at 50 yds, some were touching.
But it needs a recoil pad, damn it knocked my shoulder out. Kid made one shot and said no mas. LOL
5/8 ounce=273.437 grains according to the first conversion chart I pulled up on the web

Is there much padding on the end of the stock ? add one of those limb saver recoil pads.
Also, have You tried the Rem Buck Hammer "managed recoil" slugs ?

No theres nothing on the end right now. This stock set up is from a company called ATI. They have a pad that fits this stock. Going to order it. I have never had expierence with a slug gun. Here in Texas they are just not popular at all. But I am likeing it. 240 gr of lead should lay the smack down on whatever it connects with.
I wouldn't bother with a pad mean't for a tactical stock. A Limbsaver or similar which you can grind to fit, would be a better choice. You might also find a way to get the weight up. That gun has to be a killer in recoil. My wife won't shoot a shotgun again, because I set her up with a single shot and hunting loads for shooting clays one time.
