Default Energy Question

Not sure why, but I bought some 180gr 44mag (Hornady XTP). I got to looking at the energy and can't think for the life of me why I bought such a light load.

Chances are Id never be able to get the confidence at the range to try to take on a 100yd shot (rock solid rest) in the field with my 44mag Super Redhawk, but there are people that do it....somewhere.

Question is, what is the least amount of energy you would feel comfortable hitting a whitetail with?

Default RE: Energy Question

At what distance? At 30-40 yards into the lungs I would have no problem using that load on deer.

Default RE: Energy Question

Kinda depends on the shooters ability and not necessarily the load/gun. My guess 100 yds.
