Default Cleaning a Drilling help or hurt?

I have an old drilling in pretty good shape and I am trying to sell it. I had some guys tell me do not touch it or it will loose it value. Then I went to a gun show and a guy told me that German guns are made with such good material that it would not hurt to clean it up and would probibly increase the value. It does have nitro on the barrel and I was told that this makes it even harder steel. I do not want to hurt the gun but I would like to help it out a bit. Also if anyone know anyone who want to buy one I am looking for a buyer.ï¬

since all guns are made different i would have a gunsmith check it out or clean it. its like here, the metal and finish might be great and it might be bad. i dont want to say one way or the other without seeing it

You can clean the bores just like any other gun, and it will not harm it. Wiping the metal parts off with cleaning solvent, and lightly oiling the steel won' t hurt it. DO NOT TOUCH the screws with any kind of tool!! Don' t try to reblue any worn bluing, and make no attempt to scrub off any rust!! Don' t do anything to the wood finish except to perhaps wipe it with a little lemon oil on a soft cloth to clean it up a little.
