Default difficult to shop online

I've taken in and considered most views and opinions from sporstman on here on brand of rifle and caliber. Now I'm trying to find stores that sell the riflesthat I'm interested in to compare prices. This is more painstaking than shopping at the mall with my wife!

Do stores such as walmart, gander mountain, academy, sportsma warehouse not post what rifles they have in stock?

Iam wanting to compare prices on Browning BAR .308, Remington 750 Woodsmaster .308, and the Benelli R1 .308.

I'm lookingat the stores that are close to my dads neck of the woods in the Texas Panhandle. I've had no luck.

Any advice?

I know that I should be able to get a rifle cheaper than what the Brand website indicates. Like Remington.com etc..

Wal-Mart can order nearly any gun you want. Have brought several guns from Wal-Mart at prices much less than gun dealers sell them for. Saved $100 onmy Ruger model 77.

I'll pay the extra to buy at and support the little guy. When the Walmarts elminate them, who's gonna help with your questions? Who's gonna see you as a person not a number? Not Walmart!
Funny when walmart or another company do anything bad they're horrible, horrible companies (remove gun depts from some stores). However if you can save a few bucks they're great. Ain't money driven hypocrisy great?
As for the OP, check with your local shop and see what they can get it for. Does it have to be in-stock at the time? The Remington and BAR I'd think a shop would have but the Benelli not being quiate as mainstrem, might need to be ordered. The larger shop here carries multiples of each.

dkhammer, you can get your rifle at probably 20-25% less than those MSRP prices on the Brand Websites. Best deals and the folks I support are local gun shops that have been in the business for years, though I'd have no issue buying from a Gander, Cabela's or Bass Pro if there were one in my area.

Local shops are your best bet. When I bought my last rifle, I used a small local shop and he beat everyone else by about $20. He got that money back in ammo when I picked up the rifle. I'll probably use him again for the next one.

You can read about my experience with a local shop in the Walmart Remington 770 thread. It was not good and would have been better if I had shopped at Wal-Mart. So just because you go to the local shop doesn't mean you get better service.

Not every small shop is aneccessarily a good one for everyone. Best bet is to find those in your area that are worthwhile to frequent and be a loyal customer. Maybe I'm lucky up here as most all the small shops are decent to go into. There's a positive to being a familiar face.

There's also a positive to saving money and with today's economy I'm pinching every penny I have. If I can get something cheaper at Walmart, that's where I'm shopping.
