Default degreasing bolt

i just picked up a new rem 700 and was wondering if anyone thinks is necessary for me to degrease the bolt. I seem to remember a post or something where someone recommended degreasing the threads on the bolt and then relubricating them with regular rem oil. anyone any thoughts?

Default RE: degreasing bolt

By degrease, would you be using degreaser? If so, I would not recommend using any kind of degreaser or carb cleaner on any gun parts. I've seen too many weapons with all the blueing gone and pits from using corrosives like that. If you want to remove the grease, use CLP or RemOil, a rag, and some Q-tips
