Default Remington 700 ?

Have been wondering this for along time, does anyone know. Are the different grade 700's, SPS, BDL, CDL, XCR actions and barrels all cut from the same machine?
Is final fine tuning of parts the same for all grades?

From what I understand, the uppers are all the same depending on what caliber you choose. It's just the receivers and maybe metal treatment that's different.

all have the same action design, but with different coatings depending upon model type. The different designations are for stock grades mostly. SPS=synthetic, BDL=wood, CDL= better wood finish, XCR=synthetic with rubber inserts. The actions are all cut the same way from the same materials, and assmbled with the same parts, just different coatings(blued, stainless, etc.)depending on model type.

Do they still make the ADL, didn't see it on the Remington website?

The SPS version is the new "budget" line for the 700's, and for all practical purposes has replaced the ADL's.

So, whether I buy a 270 SPS or CDL or XCR, the parts are cut/made on the same machine?
The reason for the question is tolerances and quality.

The big differences will be in the finish of the guns. The more costly will have better fit and more polish.

Get an SPS and just keep it clean. Save your money.
