Default QD scope rings

I was hoping to get some info on quick detach scope rings. From the research I've been able to do they seem to be rings which are keyed and use a spring loaded lever to do the final tightening. I am looking for rings that can be attached and removed very quickly. They need to be med. height andfit a 1" scope using weaver style rails.I talked to my local gun store guy and he said you still need ensure the rings are tourqued properly. I have seen some cantalever style but they all seem to be 30mm and for use with "tactical" style systems. I'll be using them in wooded areas so being able to remove them and put them back on quickly is the main issue. Thanks for any help.

The only ones i know of that really work properly and get you close are the Leupold ones that have their own bases. Not the ones that go on a weaver style rail.

I will ask why you need to remave the scope?
I have a couple of QD rings and like the Leupold style the best (not the weaver style). The Leupold have sleek levers that are less prone to catching or snagging clothing or weeds and brush.
Ruger factory rings can be considered in this group as they will return to zero as long as you keep them to the same torque but yes tools are required.
Muzzleloaders are the only time I need to remove a scope, I just cannot bring myself to dunk a scope in hot soapy water!
My other rifles and handguns that have QD rings on them have never had the scope removed. More or less I have just thrown enough money at rings that could have been put into a box or two of ammo.

This isnt my thread but when we go bear hunting i end up taking3-4 gunsbecause some places i need a scope and some it is so thick i cant use a scope.3/4 ofthe time im hunting with 2 rifles/shotgun on me plus a backup handgun. It would be nice to be able to remove the scope and use iron sights so im not carrying 2 long guns and a handgun around.

Wouldn't a low power scope on a short light weight rifle be a better solution than lugging around all that hardware. Say a variable 1.5 x 4 on a Model 7. I like to hunt light whenever I can.

Yes BUT im only 21 and on a very limited budget and cant afford another rifle. I have the choices from a 300WSM, 204, 17HMR, 12 gauge or 44 Mag revolver. Is i have a scoped 300 WSM for shots out 100+ yards and the 12 gauge for close up in the thick crap and the 44 as a tracking/backup gun.

That's cool. Sometimes I forget how long it took me to build up my cabinet. Looks like you have an excellent start so far.
Happy hunting

I have a few more but my mom lives in Alabama and i keep them there so im not taking guns back and forth and having to resight in every trip. I also have a 270, 30-06, 2 22 mags, and a 20 gauge there. And 2 pistols here, a Springfield XD and a Browning Hi-Power copy.

I think I would go with the 300WSM with the 44 in a holster for close range work, and leave the 12 GA at home. IMO the 44 hits hard enough for close range work and the 300WSM has the legs if you need it.

I've been wanting to buy myself a 45-70 Guide Gun for several years for bear hunting...still working on that. My "go to" gun right now for bear hunting is a 338-06 but I've killed them with a 270, 280, 308 and 30-06 also.
