I have the Sentry Safe listed below. I was at Home Depot and noticed 2 safes on display/hidden while walking down the aisle and it had I think $269.99 written on the box which was at least $100 below the price shown on the shelf tag, so I fought it and the Manager complied. I had a $150 gift card so it only cost roughly $150 for me with tax. I have it mainly for the average quick thief. It won't stop a pro, but neither will a $1000 safe. This one is not waterproof or fireproof. I like it, it does what its supposed to do. I have 3 long guns in it currently but a lot of the room is taken up by Ammo, also if any of your guns have Scopes that will also take up more room. If you are looking for something to protect your firearms against kids or avg criminal I think any Sentry safe in yoru price range will do just fine. I have no idea why this one says MSRP of over $800 though???

your 3 main criteria for pricing are going to be...

1 size/capacity/quallity of interior
2 security/locking lugs/drill-proof
3 fire resistance (rated for a given duration of time if it has any fireproofing)

Find the balance that's right for you. Some guys need a lot of space for many guns with good security, but dont' care about fire. Others have just a few irreplaceable special pieces and just need a small safe, but want the best fire rating available.

Take a look at your local Sam's or Costco club you may find a good deal. I purchased a Winchester (Granite Safe) for $435.00 regular $798.00. Good luck.

My safe is to keep the kids out. If someone steals all of my guns, I could care less. The insurance would pay me to start my collection over again. I would have more fun and I would be a lot smarter this time! I bought my Sentry safe at Walmart andI have been very happy with it.
