Default H&R Ultra Slug 12 and 20 Gage -Synthetic??

I can not believe H&R has not brought out a synthetic version of the Ultra Slug...all they offer is walnut or laminate...

I would love to see them pull out a camo synthetic Ultra slug...maybe even with stainless...

There must be some kind of cost issue and volume of sales..I really think they need to go synthetic on this one...your thoughts?? I'd buy 3 of them if they did it...

Also - Can I geta left hand thumb hole in the H&R Ultra Slug?

IMO, one of the main reasons these guns are tack drivers is due to the heavy thick bull barrel combined with a wood stock to help absorb recoil, especially the 12G. Replacing wood with synthetic will also make this gun totally unbalanced. Also, the amount of stainless needed to reproduce the thickness and weight these guns havewould drastically increase the cost and for what real advantage?

Yep has to do with weight and balance. The even have a 1 lb steel bar in the stock to add more weight and help balance the gun. You might be able to get a tracker with a synthetic stock. That is standard thickness barrel with rifle sights though. And from what I understand because of the light weight they kick like the dickens. I personally like the laminated stocks myself.

if you go on the web site you will see that they do have synthetic stocks for some models and there are after market companies that have them too.i dont know if i would put one on a slug gun. the cheapest way to combat recoil is to add weight to a gun. they use a steel bar in the buttstock under the recoil pad.

I also heard the same thing about weight being the reason for not going synthetic. I know you can get the thumbhole in left-handed, however, you may have to special order it.
