I cannot help but laugh at the name this gun was given by a friend of mine after seeing how amazingly tight a pattern this gun will shoot.
Mossberg 835 Grand Slam Edition
20" Barrel
Realtree Hardwoods Green HD
Pure Gold .670 Choke Tube (and the factory tube as well)
Talley Steel Alloy Base and Rings
Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32 scope
This gun has killed a lot of birds. Like all of my equipment, its been babied right much. I've simply changed the way I hunt, and I don't need a "turkey rifle" to shoot birds in the woods at 25 steps. There are not many legitmate 60 yard turkey guns in this world that are not 10 gauges, but this is one of them, and I've already done the leg work for you.
Short of Nitro shells (which even I won't pay for), I've shot just about every kind of 3.5" and 3" ammunition out of this gun. Several hundreds of dollars later, she performs the best with Hevi-13 3.5" 1 3/4oz #6s (although I'll bet she'd be stellar with the new 2 1/4oz loads too).
Here is a picture of the gun and one of its patterns. 10" circle at 40 yards... 207 pellet strikes!
$450 TYD (TYFFL) in hard case.
Please PM me with any questions.
