I have a friend who just bought a WalMart Rem ADL .243 for $325 so I think your $ (with discount) is too high. It's an o.k. gun but not my cup of tea. I like the Savages better especially if they have Accu-Triggers. The scopes that come on those package guns are usually crap P.O.S. scopes.

I have an old 700 (about 30 years old) in 270 and I don't think I will ever part with it. It still shoots sub MOA regularly. At one time, almost every rifle and shotgun in my safe was a Remington. But I have been displeased somewhat with Remington's quality lately and, except for the occasionaly 'other' brandshave been slowly migrating toward Savage and Browning.
Savage has a wide selection of rifles to choose from in the chamberings you have chosen. The 11 with wood or synthetic, the 16 in SS/synthetic and the 14 American Classic just to name a few.

Both of those rifles are good, but asnoted above by bugsNbows, the scopeson those are not very good. I suggest getting a scope inat least the $200.00 price range. Check on the optics forum for suggestions.

If you think OK is Sub MOA out of the box then yea. But why spend more for guns that shoot just as well if. All my older uncles and my father have shot ADL's/BDL's with no problems. Remington have much stronger actions and more reliable feeding.

As for the scopes, they are crap. Buy a Nikon ProStaff for 160 bucks and call it good.
300 for the rifle
160 for the Scope
460= Sub MOA

pahtr - just answer me one question please. How old are your father's and uncles' rifles? I bet they are all at least 10 years old.

Ahhh...the age old question, fostered by those who tout a Savage as a "good rifle", and even better if equipted with an accu trigger......

If they are so dayum good then why does the company slam such a POS scope attop in the package "deal".....isn't the loyal Savage Customer worth more?

We can only wonder......................

How are they not "good rifles"? is being able to harvest game year in and year out, not good enough for your tastes? the Savage hating on these forums is ridiculous, considering most of it comes from guys who think their Remingtons are the epitome of class

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And mine is I wouldn't buy a Remington rifle today unless it was made at least 10 years ago or came from the custom shop. I agree the scope onthe package dealsisn't worth the room it takes up but the the fact is that I have purchased 5 Savage rifles in the past 2 years and each and every one of them are good to excellent shooters. So Mr. Loony, unless you have experience with a Savage rifles, don't knock them.
