Default 700 BDL Recoil Pad

alright all......I was wondering if anyone knew where I can pickup a new recoil pad for my 700 BDL. The problem that I'm really running into though is that I would like to keep the same dimensions and overall look. Most of the pads I'm finding are about 1" thick and I'd like to keep it around .5" (i think is the stock size), basically I just want to get rid of the plastic pad and get a softer one. It's only a 7mm-08 so its nothing serious or bad the way it is, I just figure if I'm gonna be shooting a light caliber it's be even better if it wasn't hard plastic hitting my shoulder. Thanks for any help.

For the life of me I can't understand why Remington has kept that horrible hard plastic recoil pad on the BDL model all these years! It slips around on your shoulder and even a mild caliber will give you a good beating with it on. It was the best money I ever spent when I replaced the one on my rifle. I think it will be hard finding a replacement pad that won't change the length of pull on the gun since the original one is so thin. Your best bet is to saw the stock down a bit and then install one of the many good recoil absorbing pads that are available. I would get one that is at least an inch thick. This gives you good recoil reduction, plus it gives you a real good grip on your shoulder.
