Default Recoil pads

I have a savage model 116 7mm mag. I want to reduce the recoil on it. Which brand/model of recoil pad reduces recoil the most? Does anybody know by what percent it is reduced on a 7mm mag?

My gunsmith had a recoil reduction chart for muzzle brakes and said that a muzzle brake would reduce recoil on my gun by 34%. I'm wondering how a pad would compare.

I have a limbsaver on my rem 870 and it feels like it has less recoil than my dads beneli sbe2. I havnt tried a limbsaver on my rifle though but i do have a decelerator which is a pretty good recoil pad but it isntnearly as good as the limbsaver IMO.
Good Luck

I have a limbsaver on my Rem 870 12ga. and one on my Rem 700 .30-06. They work really well.

I would try the limbsaver first before you get into installing a muzzle break.

cwenisch,
I have a limbsaver recoil pad on my Rem 700 in 7mmmag. I bought the gun with a very hard thin rubber pad on it. When i shot it, it was not very pleasant on my shoulder. I installed the Limbsaver and it became very easy to shoot.
I now have one on my muzzleloader and a slip on for my 30-30 which my daughter shoots.
As far as percentage of reduction i have no idea. The recoil is the same but it doesn't hurt. All i can say is that it went from uncomfortable to comfortable

Go with a limsaver pad. They seem to do the best job compared to the rest of recoil pads on market.

My gunsmith uses Pachmayr Decelerator , Kick-Eze and Limbsaver...in that order of preference. According to him, the Limbsavers are too soft, harder to install and don't last as long. They do, however, reduce felt recoil quite well. I put one a Tikka a couple of years ago and it did work. I guess it's a toss-up.
