Default Marlin 1893 30-30 tear down for resto

My friend has a Marlin Model 1893 30-30 that needs a restoration on it. I do know how to refinish guns, but I've never dealt with a lever action or anything this old. My question is. Does anyone know how hard this gun is to tear apart to get the wood stock and forearm away from any metal parts? I want to refinish the wood to keep an "antique" look while giving a grey patina type finish to the black painted steel of this old barn gun. I'm sure I won't have to do any "antiquing" as it sound like it is probably "pitted" enough and the wood has enough "character". All I want to do is accent what is already there but i need to know how to tear one of these things apart. Anyone know or have any ideas on how to do this? Is it pretty much a straight forward tear down?
