Default Lucky Me

I was dropping a student off today after drivers ed and her dad told me he had something for me. Guess what it was..... a K98 Mauser and 280 rounds of ammo. Metal is in excellent condition, bore is poor to fair.

Now what to do.

1.Leave it be and enjoy it.

2. Add a new Boyd's Ross stock and order some dies and make an awesome treestand and hog gun with original sights

3. Try to ream to 8mm-06 and drill and tap, and restock

4. Go all out and use the action for a custom 7x57, 280, 8mm-06, or 338-06.

I don't have the funds for the 3 and 4 right now and by the way the serial #s are all the same and cosmoline has been removed.

Nice find. I would most likely lease it as is.

If the bore isn't any good then it would be waste of money to go 8mm-06.
I would build a custom rifle on it.

But I would shoot it before I did anything to it and see if it even needs work done.

Leave it alone except fora cleaning of the bore and bolt and trigger group. Then shoot it a bit, then leave it alone some more, then shoot it some more.....
Then put it away clean and oiledfor a while.

Then decide.
