Default SAVAGE 99, ANY SUGGESTIONS

was cleanin my savage 99 and i somehow lost the tension in the mag spring, yeah i had it all apart and i know i did it, so i;m bringin to the smith to get it back in action, which got me thinkin, it;s in 300savage which is a pretty good round, but i like big guns and was thinkin about gettin redone in 358winchester, action glassed up, trigger tuned, and some good peep sights thrown on it i don;t think i can go wrong with that setup, i need one good rifle that;ll serve no matter what i get tossed into and honestly i don;t feel completely secure with a 30cal when critters that wanna eat me decide to try,

anybody out there done anything similar or care to suggest anything different?

I see you are from CT if that is where you hunt I doubt you need anything bigger. The 300 Savage is good round. I' m going to look for a model 99 with a receiver sight this summer ( in .300 savage).

nice to see a fellow .35 calibre fan , if you decide to get the work done you can realistically only better yourself ( not from calibre change only , i' m talking about the action and stock work ) the .35 is a great calibre and for woods ranges will outdo the .30 , but , wouldn' t it just be easier to trade for a .358 or buy one out right , they have very many savage99' s for sale at www.gunsamerica.com www.gunsamerica.com , let us know what you decide

Pauly if you have a rotary mag in your savage 99 then you have to wind it up to put tension on the spring . Its a very easy fix . Try one turn and see how it feed .,if not just increase it until it works .Halcon

Pauly,do you see what the 99 is worth now? I have the same gun,and since I' ll never sell it , it doesnt matter what its value is.But if your ever going to sell the gun,it probably wouldnt be a good idea to do that.Just my .02$.
