Default Man Law- My New Varmint Rifle

I got a new varmint rifle, I chose the Ruger MK II VT in a 25-06 and topped it with the Nikon 5-20X44 and it shoots a descent 1/2"moa @ 100 yds, I am still working on breaking it in and will soon be going to a different range that has a 500 yd range.

Great round and great rifle. If you are shooting 1/2 moa now it should get better as you break it in and tune it a little. I love the look of the ruger VT.

No handloads, I have tried 3 different types of ammo and the winchesters cxp1's and the federal premium's shoot the same group but the premiums are a heavier bullet so they are a bit lower @ 100......

That is a good shooting round and rifle, super low recoil. I like the look too, but that is not a rifle you want to carry around much. I bought it mainly for my oldest daughter to shoot, I thought with all the weight it would be a good gun for her to use out of a box stand and for me to play with the varmints..

You're going to love the .25-06. It is a flat shooting caliber and very versitle. I have used my Sendero loaded with 75gr varmiter bullets to shoot prarie dogs and killed an elk with the 117gr bullet.
