Default If you were my Mauser, what kind would you be?

Hey all. I'm fairly new to this website, and I usually spend most of my time in the muzzleloading area, but I started reading in the "Guns" section, and there seems to be some smart people here. Hopefully you all can help.

I have a 7mm Mauser, and that's about all I know about it. It was my Grandfather's, but he has become very forgetful and whatnot in the last couple years. When I first got it from him, I didn't really care much about guns, it was just a good shooting rifle that I could use for hunting. In the last year or two, I've taken up an interest in guns and shooting and all. Anyway, my Grandpa doesn't remember anything about the gun, and I can't find anything about it anywhere. I'll try to describe the markings on it as best as I can, and will try to get some pictures of it when I can. I tried to get some of the markings on it, but they didn't show up so well. So, here goes...

On the part of the reciever is what appears to be a sun, stamped on both sides. On the left side, right behind the sun, is the number 2632. On the barrel, the only markings an "A" with a star above it, and then right behind that are the lettersE L G. There is a circle around the letters, and a crown on top of the circle.

That's it. That's all there are for markings. Is this pretty much a pointless post? Can anyone help me out a little? If you can, that'd be great. Thanks guys.
Vince

See if any of your markings are similar to any of these mauser crests.

Some pictures would be real helpful. See if you cna swing getting some pictures posted and i'd be surprised if you didn't get some very good information then.
If you can't swing posting pictures then, if youhaven't already done so, pop it out of the stock and all other furnitureandstock parts,... shouldn't be too tough.
Then clean it up carefully and look for markings all markings that may have been covered by the stock. There may be some more information hiding under the stock or even printed or embossed on the stock. Don't forget to remove the buttplate and check under there as well

That is surprising. You don't much hear of that kind of thing anymore. at my school I'd probably have to take the weapoon first to the Sherrif's office and have the laiason officer bring it to school. Then i'd have to pick it up later back at the sherriff's office

Hey guys, sorry it's taken a couple days. Been working way more than any person should. Anyway, here's all the markings I can find without disassembling the whole gun. Not a lot to go off of, but maybe someone can help. If there's something else someone needs to see to help, let me know and I'll try to get a better picture of it. Let me know...

Vince
