Remington model 700 in .270 win

i recently bought a model 700 adl in a .270 with a black synthetic stock
it came with a "remington" 3x9x40 scope which is actually a bushnell scope

i paid around 430.00 for the gun
and with tax and all it came out to be $460 with some change

i was just wondering what kinda of ammo people see in the same gun as being the best

i sighted it in with remington core locks and got a nice group with em
but i was wondering if people notice some other ammos shooting even better

and was just basically looking for some feedback on how they like the gun
thx

I used to have one....untill I went and floated the barrel on it and ruined the grouping (long, expensive story). I sold the gun awhile back for some change and bought a Tikka T3 in .270.

The best groups I shot out of that gun (the Rem. 700) was using 130g Federal vital-shock BTSP. Before I had the barrel floated, it would shoot sub MOA with these bullets.

150 and 140 grain bullets wouldn't group below 2"....and believe me, I spent at least $200 on different weight/manufacturerammo trying to find the one that grouped the best.

Go figure...My new Tikka shoots the cheapest bullets the best, while the more "premier" ammo falls above 2" groups.

The only thing I've put through my 700-270 that it didnt shoot lights out with would be the 150 Speers. Everything else grouped excellent or better. Specially the cheap blue box Federals.

First for only seeing which bullet weight your gun like get remingtons 150gr corelokt and hornadys 140gr standard custom ammo. You already shot some 130 corelokts I prezoom so with these you will see what weight bullet your gun likes. Next question is what game and what range will you be hunting? That would dictate what type bullet to use.

You won't go wrong with the standard 150gr hornady, remington, or Federal for most any game out to say 300 yards even for the round nosed rem which is a real hammer on deer black bear. But a partition, accubond, or linterlock boat tail mite be better in some situations. a real all perpose bullet would be the 140gr partition, accubond or even the hornady BT it works great on elk too.

I've killed several deer with a Remington 700 ADL in 270 Win.All I've ever put through it were Remington 150 gr Core Lokts. They work for me and if works why fix it.

i've gotten good results with remington scirroco 130 gr., and hornady light magnum boat tail soft point 140 gr. the hornady's ballistics are actually very similar to 140 gr accubond in 7mm rem mag, which impressed me. they grouped very well out of my 700 270 and are less expensive than a lot of other premium ammo.

i dont have a remington, but my .270 browning loves federal 130gr, the cheap stuff. I like 130gr in a .270 but mya want to try a bunch to see what your gun likes best....if I ever need something bigger hornday makes some 140gr that my gun shoots well, but 130gr it loves from federal.

yeah ive been told by many people i know personally that they love the 130s from federal

my uncle has the same gun and he shoots the 130 grain federals and his gun loves em

but like they say
every gun has its own personality
so ill have to see

Just curious...

If you know how to float a barrel, then why couldn't you figure outhow to unfloat it...?
