I'd say you'll want to get some plain old Remington core-lok's or equivelant jusyt for that barrel break-in and plinkin' to get used to it phase. Then I like a premium bullet for any game . . . big or small.
You won't be disappointed with the Winchester 95 gr. SupremeĀ® Ballistic SilvertipĀ®. "Rapid controlled expansion, Massive knockdown, moderate penetration."
And zeroed at 200, bullet drop is just under 7" @ 300 yards, 19" @ 400.
Let me finish by saying that it wouldn't hurt to try several different brands of premiums in that 90 - 100 gr range to see which one the gun likes best. Good excuse to shoot more too!

.243?? ANY load that uses a 95 or 100-grain Nosler Partition bullet will suffice for any deer out there, and caribou too! As always, good bullet placement is the key here..... As game4 says, practice, practice, practice!

I have taken plenty of mule deer with a 243win and using 100gr. Remington Core-Lokts. But you need to shoot all brands to find out what you gun likes. Each individual gun has their preference on ammo.

Maybe it's just me but I find Mule Deer easier to down then WD even though they tend to be larger. A 243 with a decent pointed bullet will do the trick anything from 95-105 grains.

I have used the 85 Grain BTHP.. It is wicked on deer.. Has simalir ballistics to the 6mm.. Only downfall is it will not leave you a blood trail.. But I have never needed one.. Deer usually don't take too many steps after the hit, if any.. Other than that try the new 95 grain Barnes triple shock..
