Default Looking for a new Trap Gun

I recently let a friend of the family borrow my Stoeger Condor for a hunter safety course.

The Stoeger was always a fun gun, I liked the over-an-under. The gun always had a beautiful stock, but it never did fit me real well. After a couple rounds of trap, my cheek was hurting. i got the nickname Chipmunk after using this gun...

So, the friend offered to buy the gun, and told me to name a price. I could probably sell the Stoeger for what I bought it for, or a little more.

Now, my question is, what gun should I get if I do decide to sell the Stoeger. A

This will be my trap shooting gun. Over and under, or pump.

Any suggestions? Nothing rediculous in price, I'm not looking to spend 800-1000, as I just did that on my .204... These guns are making me broke!

Any suggestion are appriciated. Thanks

You're not going to get a quality dedicated trap over and under in that price range, unless you go used. I'd avoid a used one unless you know 100% how many rounds have been through it. So you're probably looking at a pump or auto. I'd go to the trap range and shoot as many different models as I could find and see what I liked. Also find out what guns seem to be giving their owners the least repair issues.

Remington SPR 310... May be what you are looking for. Check it out.

Thanks for the reconmendation on the SPR-310.

I've been doing some online research tonight, and I've found the SPR-310 and the Mossberg Silver Reserve.

They both look to be around $750-770 MSRP, which usually means $50-100 cheaper in stores...

My stoeger was around $350. Can I expect that these two shotguns will be of better quality/performance than the Stoeger? They both look beautiful. I'm headed to Gander Mountain to ponder tomorrow, hopefully they will have some to look at.

Many thanks, keep the suggestions/help comming!

Ahhh, selectable barrels!

The Stoeger Condor never had this, I'm excited!

I looked at a couple on GunBroker, and the Mossberg can be had for 500-550, and it looks beautiful.

Anybody have any experience with this gun?

That Remingto SP310 or the Mossberg aren'tgoing to hold up to serious trap use. If you're just getting started, they'd both make starter guns, but you'll need better made shotguns to hold up to regular heavy range use.

You bought a cheap O/U and it turned you into a chipmunk and now you want another cheap O/U!

There are no good O/U shotguns under $1,000!

The SKB 505 is still the least cost good O/U available.....it's a fine gun and you'll l,ove it.....otherwise get yourself an 870.

I'm ruling out any of the $1000 up guns.

There has to be people with experience on the Mossberg... I'll probably shoot trap 5 times a year, so figure 15 boxes

Cabelas didn't have it, actually they didn't carry many Mossbergs at all...
