Default Ordered a new toy!

I have been drooling over the Remington 700 CDL's for quite some time now. They just seem to fit me well and I love the "classic" look. I finally decided to take the plunge and order one. My next biggest decision was which caliber do I pick? I already have a couple 30-06's and a 25-06, so another 06 based cartridge was definately not needed. I almost went for a 7mm-08, just to pick somethinga little differentbut the cost and availability of factory ammo were the main deciding factors against it. I can't wait to get my paws on this new rifle and see how it shoots.

What caliber did you end up deciding on?

Ooops! That would probably help would'nt it? I wound up picking the .270 Winchester. I figured the availability of factory ammo was probably only second to the .30-06 and if I like how the rifle shoots, it would do anything the .30-06 or .25-06 could do.

One of the .30-06's I have was passed down to me from my dad so it only sees "fair weather" hunting. I will probably sell the other 06 and pick up a .243 or .308 for my son's first dedicated deer rifle.

Woops.LOL It is hard to beat those '06 based cartridges. It should serve you well for many years. Congrats on a fine new boom stick.

Man, I'd have been temped to go Whelen, or for the .257Wby in the CDL SF. You'll love that rifle, every 700 I've owned had been a excellent shooter.
