You absolutely cannot go wrong with an XD! Fantastic pistol.......accurate, rugged and so easy to field strip and put back together it ain't even funny. I've yet to have a FTF (fail to feed) with it and I've put a lot of different types of ammo through it. Ergonomically it's great, it fits good in your hand and points naturally.

They are just great guns....Springfield knocked it out of the park with this one!

I believe the compact comes with both the short 10 round magazine for CC use as well as the full size magazine with the grip extension for range use/plinking and such. My cousin just bought the .40 XD compact as he lives in Indiana and has a CC permit....lucky bastard!

They are good guns. I did not like the grip. I have small hands and they did not feel right for me. Make sure you handle one before you buy it. I also shot my friends XD Sub-compact and the grip felt the same to me and danced around in my hand as I shot it. Aside from the grip issue with me, we put about 300 rounds, 3 different types of loads and had no jams. It was pretty accurate for a subcompact. The GLock compact feels better in my hand and is what I carry if I need a concealed weapon.

Greta guns. I have owned bot XD's and Glock's, and I prefer the grip of the XD over the Glock. Just a personal preference. Good luck with the new boomer.

I have not even seen the XD-45 in my local gun store. They tell me they are selling the XD-45's as fast as they can get them.
I own a XD-40s&w in the tactical model, this gun handles & shoots well. The gun I have in not intended for CC, but fits nice inside my car when I travel.

Check the Glock Models 30 & 36's.I just bought a Glock Model 30 a month ago. With all the PD's carrying them it has to say something for the Glock's.In all honesty I have never tried a XD.I've been carrying a Glock M-27 from my CCW for several years and never had a misfire or jam.

The older ones had some corrosion problems, but they have apparently corrected that problem in the new models. The XD is the only auto I would buy if Glock went out of business.

I prefer the Glock, but the XC seems to be an excellent gun.
