Default Homemade gun vise?

Anyone have any good plans and/or pics of wooden gun vises for cleaning and maintenance of rifles and handguns?

I think I have finally reached my limit of having things moving, shifting, sliding, etc. when I'm cleaning and maintaining my firearms. I saw this guys' design and thought I may try to replicate it myself, maybe with some custom touchesfor easier storage:

Just curious as to what is out there!

I guess I never thought about making my own. This is a great idea, I would also love to see any "homemade vises" or anything similar.

I bought a gun craddle form Midway I think. It was cheap and it is sufficient to clean my long guns, mount scopes, and do light maintenance. If someone comes upo with something more sturdy, maybe I will build one.

Back in the 70's, i started and ran my own custom furniture/cabinet shop. One of the things i made and sold was, gun vises... They are quite easy to build, just find one you like, copy it,and make what ever changes you want to fit "your" needs.

Honestly, unless i was the type that would rather make it than buy itI would justbuy a Tipton.

They are sturdy, strong, lock down the firearm very securely with just a flip of a lever and being that they are made of plastic they clean up easily andyou don't have to worry about solvents soaking into wood. They also have little "cut outs" to hold jags, brushes, driver bits, etc... etc...
