Default Urgent Gun Problem

Ok heres the situation, my savage 30-06 has a live round stuck in it and it wont eject because the action is stuck. While at the range i fed the round in then the bolt would not lock down. So i tried pulling it back andthen i came to the conclusion that it was stuck. Then I tried hitting it w/a mallet and it wouldnt budge.
Plz Help

I dont know if i would hit it with anything else just to be safe. Call any gun range (some handgun ones are still open) and see what they recomend. I am pretty sure that they are going to tell you to take it to a gunsmith tomorrow to get it removed.

use something to tap it from the barrel end.....though if that goes off, you may want to watch out....

How hard did you hit it? Hit it GOOD!! If you break the handle, it is a cheap fix, but I doubt if you will.

Were you shooting handloads?

I would pay the small fee and take it to a gunsmith. Plus, he can probably tell you why it got stuck.

don't ever hit your gun with a mallet.

It won't hurt it to hit the bolt handle with a mallet. If you get the bolt opened and the round is still stuck in the chamber, get a 1/4" dowl and knock it out.

But what if the trigger goes off when you are hitting it with the mallet????? Be carefull there. Safest to just take it to a smith.

Take the barreled action off the stock and take the scope off the rifle. Soak the chamber in WD 40-or some other solvent to make the powder inert, and lubricate the action. Then try the above recommendations. Tom.
