Default Taurus 1911

Does anyone have any inputs on the Taurus 1911 pistol, good or bad? Thanks for the help.

Zak

I got one a few months ago. Right now I have about 800 rounds through it and not a single hiccup. No jams, stovepipes etc. Trigger is nice, not great, but nice. Accuracy is right up there with the higher priced boys. Off a rest I can shoot off a magazine full and at 25 yds punch a hole in the target somewhere about 1 1/2" wide.
A couple of weeks ago I installed a set of Crimson Trace laser grips on it. I now have what I would consider the "perfect" defensive handgun. Reliable, accurate and with the laser, a definate disarming deterent. I like my Steyr M40 and my Colt and S&W revolvers, but there is just something about a 1911 that just feels right.

Deepzak, I bought the PT1911 a few weeks ago. I read a lot of good reviews on it, they claim it's just as good as the high priced models out there. So far I have no complaints, Well made, and is a nice gun and shots very well.

Bronko, Where did you order the crimson trace laser , What model number fits the PT 1911 ? and How much ?
Thanks .

I was looking at these a few days ago. I really want to buy something in the 1911 style that is American made, but that Taurus makes it very hard to do so when it is at least $100 cheaper than a Springfield or Ruger.

I got one a few months back and honestly can say it is the smoothest, most accurate .45 I've ever owned. And I've had a Gold Cup and a Kimber. The PT-1911 beats them all. I hate that it's not American made but good is good and the Taurus boys have got it together. If you get one, I think you'll love it. Plus save yourself a bunch of $$.

Go for it.

Walleye - I really can't remember where or how much. And I just threw everything away the other day. I beileve the price was around $189 + shipping. I found the site doing a google search. The size was I think LG-404, its the size that fits the 1911's with 3 1/16" screw spacing.

As far as the PT1911 goes, I like mine but if I had it to do over again I would probably get the stainless version. The blued finish although even, is not the best. But if I were to cut corners in production, that is where I would cut them and not on the internals.

CJ, some day when you have time, I'll tell you my Ruger nightmares. And quality of S&W guns has gone sadly down hill the last 20 years. Todays Taurus factory is as good and modern as any gun manufacturer in business. Go to the Taurus website and take a little tour. I think it will be very educational for you.
