The Marlins are nice and have a better clip/magazine system from what I understand but I have to give the nod to Savage especially now that they have the accu trigger system. Not to mention they have models from basic economy up to some really nice higher priced models.

Looking at your forum name I'm wondering why you're not considering a Mossberg...

ok, Savage, Marlin...also consider a CZ.

I have a Marlin semi-auto .22 LR that can shoot the "ten ring" out of the targets 9 out of 10 at 50' using federal LR HP high velocity ammo. It sports a 1" tube 4X scope.

That's darn hard to beat!

My pick would be the Savage. Although both are very similar. But if you decide on a Marlin, you better get one fast before Remington screws them up.

Holy Crap-O-La.....This is about the 20th post you've made about buying a 22. How many times do you want people to give their opinions? Just go to the damn gunshop, play with a couple guns, and bring home the one you like!

BTW - Buying a 22 isn't brain surgery. There really isn't an easy way to screw it up.

Get a Savage.

Among my half dozen or so .22 LR, are a couple Savage's, a Mk-IIFV (bolt, hvy Bbl)and a 64FV (semi, hvy bbl), both pre-Accu-trigger, both sport a Weaver 6X scope.I dropped a Rifle Basix Sav-R Sear in the Mk-IIFV and it is now has a14oz. trigger pull with zero creep or over travel, instead of the 5# factory trigger. It willput 10 shots of cheap Rem.s, Win.s, or Federalsthat can be cover with a quarter at 50yds.PMC Match can put 10 shot that can be covered with a nickle at the same range. The 64FV doesn't shoot quite as good, but at 50yds will still put 10 rounds in a 1.5" andPMC match around 1" maybe slightly under. My customized heavy barrel 10/22 will out shoot the64FV, but I have at least 3x the $$ in it and the Mk-IIFV will shoot right with that 10/22.
