Federal has a new load cataloged for the 270 Win. Talk about a flat shooting screamer. I bet this would flat reach out where the deer and antelope roam as far as anyone could hit them..lol. Its a 110 gr Barnes Tipped TSX. I bet it would be the absolute bomb for whitetails, mulies, and antelope.
Anyone ever used anything like this for deer? It would have to be awesome. This bullet ~should~ be tough enough to hold together at close range as well as long range? I may have to try some next year.
3400FPS and a 32 inch drop at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero. Retains nearly 2200 fps at 500 as well as almost 1200 foot pounds at 500.
Any thoughts? Looks like some new excitement for an old standard...
Yeah pretty flat, but I bet the wind would be tough on it...

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
Wind drift looks to be pretty simillar to the other 270 loads according to the ballistics chart. Looks like a damn nice load for deer size stuff. They offer that same bullet in a 130 gr for the 300 mags.
I'm of the belief of finding 1 load for yoru rifle and sticking to it, 110gr, I hear ya on the antelope etc....but i also wonder about stabilizing, sure you gain speed and hopefully trajectory, though sometiems those lighter bullets slow down much quicker and therefore drop just as fast if not faster. I like 130gr in my .270 and that works great for antelop etc....if i need a lighter or heavier bullet I tend to switch rounds/rifles.
Wonder if it will stabilize in the standard twist .270 barrels?
That is a good question.
Another good question would be. At what price??? Man I bet that would be some expensive ammo.
Another problem will be that if your rifle likes it, then you better buy a bunch of it. Barnes will probably change the bullet in the next year or two.
For many years I fell for the Premium ammo amd premium bullet marketing. However I think I have learned better. I guess if I only shot a box of ammo a year I would probably go back to premium ammo, but I hope that never happens. Tom.

We need to stop using these terms today, "Sniper Rifle", "Tactical", "Assault Weapon".
Why are yall asking about stabilization? A standard .270 will shoot 150 grain lead bullets just fine all day long and 130 grain Barnes TSX bullets just fine. Why wouldn't it shoot a 110 grain Barnes?
You guys are thinking backwards concerning twist ratesI think? If it were a 160 grain Barnes TSX I would be worried about stabilization.
One thing is for sure. Anything loaded with a Barnes bullet is going to be expensive.
The new bulletI like a lot is the Tipped Trophy bonded bear claw. But the price is going to be outrageous though.
