Default slug barrel

I have never owned a slug gun, but am thinking about getting one. I own a Mossberg 935 and thought I might just buy a rifled barrel for it? , I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly is a cantilever barrel. Also how would I mount a scope? Would I buy mounts and attach to receiver of shotgun or would they mount to the barrel. If I have to remove the scope to change barrels to go turkey or bird hunting, I will probably just buy and HR slugster or Mossberg 500.

A cantilever barrel has a scope mount already on the barrel. All you'll need to add is the scope and rings. B-Square as well as a couple other companies make saddle type scope mounts that attach to the reciever of most shotguns. If your serious about deer hunting and a scope I'd highly suggest a cantilever barrel. You'll then be able to remove the barrel with the scope attached back to a regular barrel. Just be warned that when you put the cantilever barrel back on you'll have to take a couple of shots with your slugs just to make sure your point of impact hasn't changed.

Attached is a phote if a Rem 870 with a 23" rifled barrel and cantilever scope mount. Scope is a Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope that I highly recommend. O, by the way, I shot this 200 lb. doethrough the heart at 110 yards with a Hornady SST.

I would either buy a barrel or pick up a H&R Slug Hunter for about the same price that a rifled barrel would be. Just bought a 20 ga. H&R Slug Hunter Deluxe and it's great! Can't wait to shoot it some more!!!

Thanks everyone...I definitely want a cantilever barrel...would want to change barrels easy.

I thought about getting an HR Slugster, but was wondering about it being just single shot, I like to know i have the second shot ready if i ever need it.

If your a good shot, you won't need another shot with those H&R Ultra Slug Hunters, they are tack drivers.

What makes them more accurate than any other rifled slug barrel? Is the rifling tighter?
