Isn't the SKB a top lock??? While the Red Label is a bottom box lock??? My older SKB is a top lock, and IMO it is a superior shotgun. Tom.

I like skb's over the ruger. Both are fine well made shotguns. Pick which ever oneshoulders better to HIM.

I would pick the ruger over the skb simply because I'm a ruger nut and I love my red label-it introduced a whole new shotgunning world to me years ago when I got it and has never gave the 1st problem.

Top Lock -Bottom Lock makes no difference if the gun has a properly designed locking system , Beretta 686 has one of the most bombproof systems and it isn't toplocked. Both Ruger and SKB have proven designs. Pick it based on how it feels in your hands and its pointability.
